This Website is Preposterous
Good evening. My name is Stefan Koski and I'm a writer and a filmmaker. This site is a collection of information about me, videos I've made, and stuff I've written (mostly articles and essays). I say this website is preposterous because much of what I've done is ridiculous.
For example, I wrote and self-published my first book when I was sixteen. See what I mean? I'm a bit of an oddball--an eccentric, if you will. Always have been. It's something that comes naturally to me.
I wrote my first book about my experiences as an underclassman in high school. In the course of putting it together I discovered I had a real passion for writing (funny that I should realize that after I had gone through the work of writing it instead of before). I started writing for The Tattoo Teen Newspaper and created a blog where I could post thoughts, ideas, rants, and things that were going on in my life. You can find both the articles I wrote for The Tattoo and my blog on this site. Since The Tattoo focuses its efforts on publishing the work of teenagers I retired from it after I graduated high school, but I still post things on my blog regularly. I'm also working on another book about my upperclassmen years in high school.
The videos are likewise ridiculous. When I was in eighth grade some friends of mine wanted to shoot a video for a class project about health workers who had AIDS. It was a science project, and they thought making a video for it would be easier than doing any actual work. The premise was a talk show called Goonie Gossip where two hosts, Frappe (played by a kid named Michael Schenkel who I hardly knew back then) and Pepe (that's me), would invite a doctor who has AIDS on to the program and who would then be confronted by some of his former patients.
I really enjoyed working on the project and from that point on decided I wanted to be a filmmaker (I wouldn't discover the writer in me until I was half way through high school). Between eighth grade and sophomore year I created three more videos in the Goonie Gossip series, and after that I worked on a number of other video projects--some of them of my own creation and others as projects that I took on at the behest of fellow classmates. They're all shorts, all absurd on one level or another. Judak is a spoof on anti-depressants. The Compassion of Miguel del Fuego is about a man named Miguel who hears voices from a diety known as the Paternal Instigator of Majestic Power (take the first letter of each word and tell me what you get) who tells him he needs to go out, get drunk, and burn things.
See what I mean? Ridiculous. Those two videos I just mentioned hold a special place in my heart because I personally wrote and directed them. Not coincidentally, they're the two craziest of the videos I have done so far. I'm aiming to take on more ambitious projects now that I'm in college.
If you like the preposterous (or the offensive, nonsensical, and occasionally heartfelt and emotional) then you're in the right place. I hope you enjoy what I've created so far, and I look forward to creating much more in the future.
Until later,
Keep the Faith,
Fight the System,
Drink Responsibly.
